Dr. Dimitrios Alexopoulos is Emeritus Professor of Cardiology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens Medical School. Prof. Alexopoulos is a Graduate of Athens University Medical School. He was trained in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology in John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, UK and  Mount Sinai Hospital, New York, USA. He became a Faculty member of Patras Univesity, Greece (1990) where he seved as a full professor in Cardiology since 2000. Between 2004-2016 served as a Chairman of Cardiology in Patras University Hospital. He was therafter elected Professor of Cardiology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens Medical School and served as Chief of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory in Attikon University Hospital March 2016-August 2023. Prof. Alexopoulos is a specialized interventional Cardiologist. He continues his clinical work as a partner in Hygeia Hospital, Athens. Prof. Alexopoulos has co-authored 448 publications listed in Pubmed, being the first author in 109 and senior author in 130 of them with a total impact factor 1900, 26068 citations and h index 63.
